Thank you for supporting Families for Safe Streets. FSS confronts the preventable epidemic of traffic violence through advocacy and support. It started in New York City ten years ago but has grown into a national movement. Together, FSS members transform their grief by sharing personal stories of trauma and loss to raise awareness and bring about policy and legislative change. We have saved countless lives through our advocacy for lower speed limits, speed safety cameras, safer street design, and technology to make our vehicles safer. While we have seen a decline in fatalities and injuries since we formed, far too many people are still suffering. We also believe no one should have to endure the physical, emotional and spiritual trauma of traffic violence alone. FSS support services include monthly support communities, peer-mentoring, logistical assistance and a detailed resource guide.

In 2014, crash victims joined with Transportation Alternatives to form Families for Safe Streets. We confront the epidemic of traffic violence through advocacy and support. Together, we transform our grief by sharing personal stories of trauma and loss to raise awareness and bring about policy and legislative change. We have saved countless lives through our work lowering the speed limit, installing speed cameras in school zones, re-engineering dangerous intersections and changing the culture of reckless driving.
